About Us
What is JezebelMusic.com?
JezebelMusic.com is an online music publication for the new music fan. Our mission is to share intelligently written views of records, songs, standout artists, the music industry, online music culture, trends, and emerging technology.
JezebelMusic.com was founded from the work of Jezebel Music (now Jezebel Music NYC), a Brooklyn-based music promotion company and talent incubator capturing the imagination of the New York independent music scene.
What is a “new music fan”?
The new music fan is a consumer of music, new and old, with a discerning ear who refuses to be force-fed what’s popular. A new music fan does not discriminate by genre, release date, or popularity. His or her main concern is whether the music is good. A new music fan might enjoy Animal Collective, Pavement, Hüsker Dü, and The Velvet Underground; but may also enjoy Norah Jones, Madonna, the Jackson Five, and Elvis Presley.
All of our writers are not early 20-something, post-college indie rock fiends, although some certainly are. Our writing team is made up of people with a wide-range of birthdates and diverse musical tastes.

Why are you called ‘Jezebel’ Music?
Jezebel was an Israeli queen from the Old Testament who, in defiance with the customs and traditions of her day, did one thing while everyone else did another. We believe the music industry is about musicians and fans doing things their own way, even if the biblical Jezebel was killed because her eunuchs threw her out of a window.
What’s the difference between JezebelMusic.com and Jezebel Music NYC?
Jezebel Music NYC is a division of JezebelMusic.com that produces live shows in New York City (12 per month at small-medium sized venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan). The events include the Monthly Feature Show, a monthly BANDS Showcase, a weekly party called Consignment, a weekly songwriter showcase called Resonance, a weekly open mic called Songfair, and the Annual Williamsburg Songwriter Competition, currently in its fifth year of production.
